The fonds consists of records associated with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (the strike of the Clerical and Regulatory Group in September-October 1980; the national strike of federal employees in September 1991) and the Canadian Union of Labour Employees (negotiations and agreements between 1982 to 1986). The fonds also contains material on union activity in the Caribbean countries, the Commonwealth Trade Union Council, and the Mayor's Committee on Community, Race, and Ethnic Relations in North York.

Mark Krakowski was born in Kazakstan on 16 September 1943, the son of Jewish Holocaust survivors from Poland. His family fled Poland at the end of 1939 and survived the war in the Soviet Union, including an internment of 18 months in a Soviet gulag. His parents reached Kazakstan after they were released from the gulag in December 1941.
